About

JANAZA is the artist alias name of Jane Doe, a first generation Afghan American born in San Francisco California. Having studied clinical Psychology at the University of California Berkeley, JANAZA uses themes of melancholy to promote the notion that the state of sadness make us all more attentive and detail oriented, highlighting suprising benefits from negative moods. According to Joe Forgas, a social psychologist at the University of New South Wales in Australia who has spent the last decade investigating the surprising benefits of negative moods, angst and sadness promote "information-processing strategies best suited to dealing with more-demanding situations." This helps explain why those who are subjected to melancholy are better at judging the accuracy of rumors and recalling past events; they're also much less likely to stereotype strangers and make fewer arithmetic mistakes. JANAZA sums up this state of thought below:

Let Sorrow and Joy both dance to the same song in your head"

As we continue to move faster into the abyss of the unknown future, let us appreciate the stillness of uncertainty, while keeping a humble eye on the totality of the end.

Surely we are from Love, and to Love we all will return.
